History
Founded in the 1930s by André Zalkin, the company has become one of the world leaders in capping machines.
1930
1930 to 1950: The birth of Zalkin
In the 1930s, André Zalkin set up a general mechanics workshop in the west of Paris, and his business grew in the 1940s, with a system of semi-automatic machines for bottle labelling.
1960
1960 to 1970: The rise of Zalkin
In the 1960s, Zalkin made the choice for automatic capping, a process that enabled its customers to optimize their production speeds. This technological advance helped to grow production, and a plant was built in Normandy, at Montreuil l'Argillé (27).
At the time, on the bottling market, the crown cap was dominant, but Michel Zalkin, the founder's son, chose "pilfer-proof" aluminium screw caps by developing sealing head machines. The result of this Zalkin performance is an international presence since the 1970s.
1980
1980 to the present: Innovation and quality by Zalkin
In the 1980s, to answer the market's needs, Zalkin developed magnetic screw-capping heads for screw caps on bottles, with a "Pick & Place" cap system. During the switch to PET bottles, the company became a major actor in the beverage industry, notably for high-speed machines.
Later, between 1990 and the 2000s, Zalkin integrated Brushless engine technology, allowing processing of oriented caps to the cosmetics industry, and developed its range of machines for the wine industry, as well as a dedicated, short finish system to respond to an environmental concern in the beverage industry.
Since 2010, the company has focused on quality and excellence and set up an inline quality control system for capping machines.
In 2012, the "Zalkin Evolution" holding company took control of the company after Michel Zalkin's death and implemented a large-scale expansion and restructuring project for the production plant in Montreuil l'Argillé, which will be inaugurated in 2014.
2014
Zalkin joined the American industrial group Pro Mach, which is specialized in packaging, to give itself a new dimension: offering the synergies necessary for expansion of its product range, galvanizing innovation and reinforcing its international position.
